| The principal measures are as follows: At the Barby Lane and Welton Road entrances to the village there will be village name signs and 30 mph speed limits on a fence-like framework on each side of the road. Together with road markings this gives an impression of road narrowing and forms a "gateway" to the village reminding drivers of the speed limit. The current "stright through" route provided by Welton Road, The Green and the High Street will be broken up by changing the prorities at some of the junctions. | |
| Traffic approaching the village along Welton Road will have to stop at the junction with Spinney Hill. The adjacent map shows how the alignment of the highway will be changed. This forces traffic to stop and check that nothing is coming down Spinney Hill before proceeding. Similar road realignments will be done at the junction of the High Street with Church Road and also at the Barby Lane / Greenways junction. In all cases, the through traffic will be forced to stop before proceeding into the village itself. | |
![]() | There is also a road realignment outside the Wheatsheaf which will again force through traffic to a halt. It is hoped that three stops in the village will deter drivers from using this route as a "rat run" as well as reducing the speed of all traffic. The bus companies have not yet given their final blessing but it is expected that they will turn round by going up Ashby Lane, down Sinney Hill and back along Welton Road.
